Mentor · from the Selltech Suite
An expert sales coach. For every rep. On every call.
This deal. The next deal. All deals. Built for teams that sell events.

Cassie · after your call
“They handed you the real problem. Let’s make sure you pick it up next time.”
The problem
You know what good looks like. Getting it on every call is the hard part.
- Most sales calls are never reviewed by anyone.
- Development happens in bursts, when a manager has time.
- Deals slip, and the first sign is a missed forecast.
Last week’s calls
The insight
One coached call a week moves the needle. Imagine what happens when every call is coached.
The best development in sales has always been the same: a skilled coach, a recorded call and an honest conversation afterwards. Mentor makes that possible for every rep, on every call.
One call a week reviewed
Every call reviewed
How it works
Mentor works on both sides of the call.
Before the call
- Is this prospect a genuine fit for your event?
- The business development challenges they’re most likely facing, predicted from how they present themselves.
- The discovery questions that will test those predictions on the call.
After the call
- An honest review of what happened.
- Where the deal is at risk, and what to do about it.
- A compelling business-case proposal, built together with the rep, and a plan for the next call.
How can it know before you’ve spoken?
A prospect’s own website says a lot about the problem they’re trying to solve. Mentor reads it the way an experienced sales director would.
A generic, look-alike website
A crowded market. Their challenge is standing out.
A leading-edge product
An early-adopter market. Their challenge is finding the buyers ready to go first.
A better version of something buyers already have
A swap-out sale. Their challenge is finding buyers unhappy enough to change.
Each prediction carries a confidence level. The call is where the rep confirms it.
Objections, spoken and unspoken
The objection that loses the deal is sometimes the one nobody heard.
A prospect rarely says “I’m not convinced.” They say something that sounds like small talk. Mentor hears it for what it is, gets to the cause behind it, and shows the rep how to turn it into a stronger case than the prospect imagined.
Spoken and unspoken
Some objections are said out loud. Most are hidden in a throwaway remark. Mentor catches both, and shows the rep how to deal with each.
The root, not the symptom
Mentor anticipates the underlying cause of the prospect’s problem, so the solution the rep offers fixes the cause rather than the complaint.
Results beyond what they expected
Mentor helps the rep understand what the client is really trying to achieve, and how to deliver more than the prospect first thought possible.
One real moment: an objection nobody on the call heard.
What happened
Prospect · Head of Marketing, software vendor
“We’ve done the big shows before. Honestly, the leads were disappointing.”
Rep
“I completely understand. This year we’ve got a brand-new expo layout and over forty per cent more floor space, so visibility will be much better.”
What the coach noticed
That was an implicit objection: “events haven’t worked for us.” The symptom was disappointing leads; the likely cause is that nobody built the event around what their sales team actually needs. You answered with floor space. The deal is now at risk, and nobody on the call realised it.
The better next move
“When you say disappointing, what would a good result have looked like? And who in the business judges whether an event was worth it?”
That brings the objection into the open, gets to the cause, and finds the person who signs off the budget. Now the rep can shape a proposal around the results they need, not the size of the stand.

Choose your coach
The same insight. In the voice that works for you.
Each rep chooses a coach’s face and a coaching style, and can call their coach whatever they like. The analysis underneath doesn’t change; only the delivery does.

Tough Love
“Right. They told you the leads were rubbish, and you sold them square metres. Let’s fix that.”
For reps
Five seconds or a full debrief. The rep decides.
Rate yourself first
Reps score their own call, then see how the coach scored it. The gap is where the learning is.
Go as deep as you need
A glance between calls, a quick summary, a conversation with your coach, or a full review.
Coaching that comes to you
Reminders, refreshers and short training when a pattern starts to repeat.
Spotlight
Good salespeople know where they need to improve. Ask your coach to watch for it, the way a pilot asks an instructor to focus on landings. Your coach reports back on whether you’re improving, flat-lining or slipping, with clear advice on what to do next.
For managers
See every deal and every rep, without listening to every call.
This deal
The risks, the next steps and whether it will really close.
Your team
Who is improving, who is stuck, and on what.
Pipeline you triage, not just report
Whether your one-to-one pipeline review is held in Meeting Manager or elsewhere, Mentor shows which deals support the number, which are drifting and which have no evidence, so the meeting becomes triage instead of a read-back.
Your week

Coaching that never gets dropped
Coaching is the first thing a stretched manager drops, and coaching one call well can take up to an hour and a half. Mentor does the heavy lifting: it coaches every rep on every call, focuses on the two or three missteps that matter most, and tells you what it has coached and why. A monthly coaching log lets you sit down with each rep, review the month and agree the next month’s plan.
From a Mentor user
“I’ve been in event sales for 20 years. In six months of using Mentor, the quality of my sales calls and the number of proposals I produce each week have improved more than in the previous nineteen and a half years.”
“Tailored to our sales process and used alongside our call recorder, Mentor gives me the guidance I need to refine my approach, improve my closing ratio and significantly increase my proposal output.”
“I can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s a genuine game changer for sales teams. My only wish is that it had been available 15 years ago.”

Mentor + your CRM
Your CRM knows the stage. Mentor knows the deal.
HubSpot tells you where a deal sits in your process. It can’t tell you whether the deal is real. Mentor listens to the sales conversations themselves, weighs them against a proven standard of what makes deals win or lose, and gives every deal an honest probability — then writes it back into HubSpot alongside your existing fields.
Your CRM stays the system of record. Mentor adds the judgement it was never built to have.
A forecast you can trust
A deal at “proposal sent” looks the same in your pipeline whether the buyer was enthusiastic or lukewarm, whether the real decision-maker was on the call, and whether it has gone silent for weeks. Mentor separates the deals that are alive from the ones that only look busy — so you learn a deal is slipping while there is still time to act. Mentor scores each deal but never adds them up into a rival forecast. The manager’s number stays the only forecast, and Mentor shows the evidence for and against it.
It reads the sale, not just the record
Mentor weighs what actually happened: the risks raised, who you were really dealing with, whether promised dates were met, and whether the conversation has gone quiet. One discipline keeps it honest — good news only counts when it comes with a date.
It lives inside the tool you already use
Mentor reads deals from HubSpot and writes back its probability, a plain-English risk summary and the rep’s close-out notes as its own fields — alongside HubSpot’s, never overwriting them. No new system to adopt, no double entry.
Every deal explains itself
No black box. Each score comes with a “why this score” in plain English, so a manager can act in seconds and a rep can see exactly what to fix. Reviews go straight to the deals that need a human.
The same standard, every rep, every call
A person’s read of a call depends on the day and the mood. Mentor applies the same standard to every conversation, for every rep — the difference between anecdotes and a real record of why deals are won and lost.
Anyone can transcribe a sales call. Mentor understands it.
A transcript is not a judgement, and a summary is not a forecast. Mentor has a point of view about the call — what’s a real concern and what’s a throwaway, who actually decides and who just attended — and turns that into something you can act on.
HubSpot integration available. Deal intelligence is written back when a manager runs a sync; automatic daily sync is on the way.
What Mentor makes possible next
The intelligence that wins the deal shouldn’t die with the deal.
Every sales conversation is full of things marketing would kill to know: what the buyer actually cares about, what’s really holding them back, who matters in the decision, and why deals like this are won or lost. Today that lives in one rep’s head and dies when the call ends.
Mentor captures it — and, once the rep confirms it, is built to hand the essentials to HubSpot for your marketing engine to act on. Mentor does the understanding; HubSpot does the marketing. Nothing gets typed twice, and only high-confidence, rep-confirmed intelligence is ever cleared to drive an automated message — a guess never fires in front of a prospect.
Speaks to the real problem
Mentor identifies what each buyer genuinely cares about and why it matters to them, against the right person — so outreach stops being generic and speaks to the actual problem the buyer raised.
The right person, not the whole company
Mentor recognises who you are really dealing with — the decision-maker, the influencer, the blocker — so marketing can reach the people a deal actually turns on.
Objections become fuel
The concerns buyers raise on calls are the voice of the market. Mentor gathers them for marketing as content and FAQ themes, for enablement as battlecards, and for product as a ranked signal of what to fix.
What’s coming: contact-level enrichment for marketing is in development. Deal-level intelligence to HubSpot is available today, started by a manager per sync.
One deal pays for it. Everything after that is upside.
Engine 1
Sales
One extra sale a year from a single rep covers the cost of the system. So does one recovered deal that would otherwise have slipped away.
Engine 2
Marketing
Every call adds to what your marketing knows about each buyer. Campaigns that people find relevant get answered, and that value keeps building long after the call.
Better reps. Fewer surprises. Marketing that gets replies.
